AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
“Ethnomusic” is a specialized series dedicated to highlighting current issues in the study of authentic musical folklore – ethnomusic as a sound-producing culture of oral tradition in all its possible manifestations, both today and in the past, in Ukraine and worldwide. The aim of the publication is to disseminate scholarly research in the field of musical ethnology, works on ethnomusicological pedagogy, as well as reviews, surveys, and reports on relevant and diverse events in the field of musical folkloristics.
Each issue is dedicated to a particular significant event in musical folkloristics; at the same time, the publications included are not necessarily limited to the selected thematic focus and are not constrained by geographical, diachronic, thematic, or other frameworks.
The most extensive and central section of the yearbook is “Studies,” which publishes works on terminology, genres, form, structural typology, and historiography; field research; interdisciplinary studies; as well as diverse research in the field of ethno-organology, among others.
The section “Pedagogy” contains methodological works on ethnomusicological pedagogy, intended for instructors at higher education institutions (academies, universities), as well as for teachers of secondary educational institutions and even music schools.
The volume is supplemented by the section “Reviews, Surveys, and Reports,” which includes reviews of ethnomusicological works, overviews of various musical-folkloristic events, and reports on expeditions, conferences, and symposia that took place during the current year.
