ARTICLE RETRACTION PROCEDURE

The editorial board of the academic journal “Ethnomusic” carries out the retraction of published articles in cases of identified violations of academic integrity, significant errors, or other circumstances that call into question the reliability or scholarly value of the research results.

Grounds for the retraction of an article may include:
– detection of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or improper borrowing;
– fabrication or falsification of research results;
– significant errors affecting the conclusions of the work;
– duplicate publication;
– incorrect authorship (inclusion of individuals who do not meet the criteria for authorship);
– republication of the article without the author’s consent;
– violation of ethical standards in the process of preparation or publication of the material

The decision to retract an article is made by the editorial board based on the review of relevant materials and in accordance with the recommendations of the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). The submission must contain information on the existence of grounds for retraction of the article as specified by these rules. The decision to retract an article is made taking into account the author’s response, which substantiates their position on the issue of retraction (if such a response is received).

The retraction procedure предусматриває:
– conducting an internal review and, if necessary, involving independent experts;
– mandatory informing of the author(s) about the identified violations and providing an opportunity to give explanations;
– adoption of a reasoned decision by the editorial board.

If the author or the group of authors ignores the editorial request, the editorial board has the right to обратиться for assistance to the Committee on Research Ethics of NaUKMA and/or to carry out the retraction of the publication without taking into account the author’s opinion.

In the event that a decision on retraction is adopted, the editorial board indicates the reason for the retraction (in cases of plagiarism, with indication of the source of borrowing), as well as the date of retraction. The article and its description remain on the journal’s website as part of the relevant issue, but the electronic version of the text is marked “RETRACTED” and the date of retraction is indicated. The same mark is applied to the article and in the table of contents of the issue.

The Editor-in-Chief of the journal submits to the Publishing Council the minutes of the meeting of the journal’s editorial board, indicating the date of the meeting, the list of attendees, the results of the review, a reasoned decision, and the completed form:
– full name of the author and the title of the article;
– title, volume, issue, and year of publication of the text to be retracted;
– initiator of the retraction; grounds for retraction and the date of the decision;
– link to the page on the journal’s website where information about the retraction is provided;
– bibliographic details of the article and DOI;
– subject of the article.

The minutes of the meeting of the journal’s editorial board, containing the wording that substantiates the reason for the retraction of the article, are forwarded to the author.
The journal’s editorial board, simultaneously with the decision to retract the article, may decide to impose a ban on accepting for publication articles from the author of the retracted article for a specified period.
Information about the retraction of the article is published on the journal’s website.
